If you were to ask me what the one thing is that I love the most about this photography gig, I'd tell you that it is capturing the journey! As a busy mother of two, I know all too well how fast time flies. It seems like only yesterday that I was bringing my 1st born home from the hospital, and here we are (17 Yeats later) spending our weekends touring college campuses. It truly is wild to me how fast the time passes. As I prepare my heart and home to send my baby girl out into the world, I am reminded that we as mothers are often the ones behind the camera and rarely in front of it. I am also reminded of how precious time is, and the importance of capturing all of the little details along the way. You know the old saying "Don't blink?" Well, I'm here to tell you that it is true.
Meet Everly Blake! Today she celebrates her 1st year of life, and her parents Donovan and Tori have done a fantastic job of documenting the journey. As I look back over this past year, I smile when I see these all of these images together. I was there to photograph their gender reveal, Tori's maternity portraits, Everly's lifestyle newborn session, generational family photos, and a few recent portraits just before her 1st birthday. Want to know the best part of this story? These are my people and I love them big!
Tori is my niece, and here in Longview, TX, our summers are HOT! So, we thought it would be fun and creative to do her maternity portraits at the river. It was fantastic! We worked together to pick out just the right outfits and locations to get the look that she wanted. It was hot, the lighting was magic, and the water was fun and refreshing.
After Everly's arrival, I traveled to their home and we did a lifestyle newborn session. Lifestyle newborn sessions are my favorite, because they capture all of the little details in your own personal space. This adds a personal touch and preserves those early precious memories. I love utilizing the nursery, master bedroom, and any heirloom items in the home to help you to remember every single detail of your newborns 1st few weeks of life. I believe that lifestyle newborn sessions are timeless, and I love the intimacy that comes with photographing families in their own home.
Not too long after our lifestyle newborn session, the family flew in from Colorado to meet baby E. Everly is the 5th generation of some pretty fantastic women. I think our Granny was the most excited about this family session! All 5 generations here and together. It had to be documented.
Scheduling photography sessions aren't always easy. Things that I hear often are: "We are super busy, I need to loose a few pounds 1st, I am not sure what we would all wear, I work a lot" and the list goes on. The truth is, there is never a perfect time. You just have to do it, and I am here to help you every step of the way! Photographs meet us where we are and capture and record all of those small moments in time that we will never get back. You are right where God wants you to be. Embrace it. Document it. Enjoy it.
